How to choose a digital signage display

A signage display works ten hours a day for years, often with nobody there to switch it on. The criteria that matter are different from those of an interactive display: here they are in the order we check them with the installer.

1 · Landscape or portrait
Orientation is not a styling detail: it changes the content format and the bracket. Portrait for windows, totems and lists; landscape for lobbies, dashboards and internal communication. The HNT series is rated for both.
2 · Operating hours
A consumer TV gives up after a few weeks of continuous use. The HNT series is rated for 24/7 operation with a 50,000-hour panel life: that is the figure to compare when a specification asks for service continuity.
3 · Ambient light
Next to a glazed façade you need more brightness than in an interior lobby. If the display faces backlight or direct sun, settle the position before the size: no panel wins against direct sunlight.
4 · How content gets updated
With the included Bytello app you update one or many displays remotely — no USB sticks, no ladders. For larger estates, Bytello DMS adds scheduled power cycles, alerts and firmware updates.
5 · Connectivity and player
Built-in Android 14 means the display already is the player: no external mini PC to power and hide. Still available: 3× HDMI in, USB-C Full-Link 65W, dual LAN with autoswitching and RS232 for room control integration.
6 · Size and reading distance
For content seen in passing, distance matters more than the room: 55" for corridors and waiting areas, 65-75" for lobbies and reception, 86-98" where the audience is over ten metres away or the content contains text.

Signage, interactive display or LED wall?

Three technologies that solve different problems. The comparison exists to avoid over-specifying: a display you touch costs more than a display you look at.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a signage display and an interactive one?

Signage is made to be looked at: no touch, continuous operation, content driven remotely. An interactive display is made to be used up close: touch, writing, sharing, working sessions. Proposing an interactive display where signage is needed makes the client pay for functions nobody will use; the opposite leaves them with a screen they cannot touch.

Can HNT displays be installed in portrait?

Yes — the HNT series is designed for both landscape and portrait installation, and the wall bracket is included. In portrait it pays to rethink the content rather than just rotate it: lists, timetables and prices work well, a panoramic video does not.

Is an external player or PC needed to run content?

No. Android 14 with a Quad Core A73 processor is built into the display and acts as the player: load the content, or connect the display to the content management system, and it runs. HDMI and USB-C inputs remain available for external sources when needed.

How is content updated across displays in different locations?

The included Bytello app updates one or more displays remotely. On larger estates, Bytello DMS handles groups of displays ("everything on the first floor", "everything at one site"), instant text alerts and banners, scheduled power cycles and planned firmware updates.

What warranty do the signage displays carry?

The HNT series ships with a 3-year On-Center warranty, along with the wall bracket, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, remote control and cables. For public supply contracts we provide datasheets per product code and declarations of conformity on request.

A 98" display or a LED wall?

Up to 98" the display remains the simpler choice: one unit, one bracket, no calibration. A LED wall makes sense beyond that size, when the surface must be continuous with no bezels, or when the format is not 16:9 — showrooms, auditoriums, stages. Below 98" it rarely justifies the difference in cost and installation.
