Bracket, trolley or motorised mount: how to decide

The choice of mount depends on the wall and on who will use it, not on the display. Five questions — and they belong before the site survey, because answering them afterwards means going back.

1 · What wall are you facing

Solid masonry takes any bracket. Plasterboard, glazing and partition walls do not: there you move to a trolley or a floor mount, no debate. Check it first, not last.

2 · Does the display move

If the screen serves several classrooms or departments, a trolley — manual or motorised — saves buying a second display. If it stays put, a bracket costs less, takes less space and cannot be pushed out of place.

3 · Is height adjustment needed

Height adjustment matters in three concrete cases: rooms with young children, wheelchair users, and displays shared by people of different heights. Motorisation is justified when adjustment happens daily, not once a year.

4 · Weight and VESA standard

Every solution follows the VESA standard, so compatibility comes down to hole spacing and the maximum weight stated on the mount datasheet. A 98" display does not go on a bracket rated for a 65": the most expensive and most frequent mistake.

5 · What happens below the screen

The mount is also where PCs, cables and power supplies end up. An OPS module inside the display removes boxes and external sockets; trolleys with a storage compartment take care of the rest. It is the difference between a tidy installation and a tangle behind the screen.

How do I check that a mount fits the display?

You need two figures: the VESA hole spacing on the back of the display (e.g. 600×400 mm) and its weight. Both are on the display datasheet; the mount states the spacing it accepts and its maximum load. If both fall within range, the combination is compatible — regardless of the display brand.

Will a trolley for a 65" also take an 86"?

Not necessarily, and this is the check to make every time: weight, hole spacing and centre of gravity all change. Some models cover a wide range of sizes, others do not. At quoting stage we specify the mount against the exact display code, not the family.

Does a motorised mount need a dedicated electrical supply?

It needs a compliant power socket nearby, not a dedicated circuit. On motorised trolleys the cable follows the trolley, so agree the socket position with the electrician in advance: it is the detail that delays a delivery.

Motorised trolley or motorised wall mount?

If the display stays in the same room and the wall is load-bearing, the wall mount is tidier and frees the floor. If the screen has to move between rooms, or the wall cannot take it, a motorised trolley gives the same height adjustment with no structural constraints.

What is the difference between OPS PC, mini PC and HELGI Box?

The OPS PC slots into the display: no external cables, no brackets, one power button. The mini PC sits outside, fixed behind the screen or on the trolley: it can be replaced without touching the display. HELGI Box is the compact option where dedicated computing is needed next to the screen. The choice comes down to who will service it, and how often.
